The Internal Medicine consultation is a non-surgical medical practice in which the doctor deepens the study of the diseases of the adult organs and the interrelation or influence of the condition from one organ to another, understanding the comprehensive approach of the patient.
In the initial consultation, the doctor will carry out a detailed questioning about the symptoms, history of personal and family illnesses, with special emphasis on detecting any important antecedents that can be considered as a risk factor or origin of any pathology.
The Internist is the most qualified doctor to make a diagnosis and treatment according to the needs of the patients, especially when said patient suffers from multiple diseases. For this reason, the Internist must master the diagnosis and treatment of the main subspecialties that comprise it, such as: Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Dermatology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Oncology, Hematology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Immunology, Intensive Care and Endocrinology. In addition, the Internist must master support specialties such as radiology or Diagnostic Imaging, clinical laboratory and Therapeutics.
